... and not paid £££££ ? I'd love one (I'd put herbs or Aldi Prosecco on ice in mine!) but haven't budgeted for it in my kitchen plans ... surely there must be a catering company out there that stock them at realistic prices ?

Just something else to clean.........

everythingcrossed · 21/07/2021 21:48

Could you adapt a galvanised metal planter like this one?

Mumsnet is fab for recommendations, I found my kitchen suppliers on here (HKOC). Good luck with your planning appointment!

Just make sure it’s not to heavy to lift out once all that ice melts.

It's like a sink with strainer / waste plumbed in

Potentially (and thank you for idea) but I'd need a talented fitter and due to kitchen costing ££££ it's me and boyfriend doing the fitting. We are ok with straightforward stuff but I think that might be a bit too tricky for us.

Then that’s easy, pinch a hole in a galvanised container and fit a drainer and a length of pipe. If nowhere near a drain outlet, then drain straight into a bucket under the counter. Tip bucket down the sink. You don’t need a tap if using it for ice!

Wingedharpy · 21/07/2021 23:03

Just get a bigger fridge OP.Grin
Far more useful/practical.

everythingcrossed · 22/07/2021 18:46

I've fitted a few kitchens, always worth getting in a pro to do the worktops- and he can just cut an extra hole for your trough while he's about it.

Dalooah · 22/07/2021 19:57

I know nothing about these but surely they're more than just a metal box? Wouldn't it be double-walled/insulated in some way to stop the ice melting straight away?

Hallyup6 · 22/07/2021 21:37

A wine trough in the kitchen?! Just when I thought society could stoop no lower, someone designs this. How utterly ridiculous.

parietal · 22/07/2021 21:53

unless you have a MASSIVE kitchen, it is just going to be in the way 90% of the time. whenever you want to use your worksurface for normal cooking, not a giant party, it will annoy you. the edges are another thing to clean, and it looks tacky.

don't do it.

HasaDigaEebowai · 22/07/2021 21:55

Its a sink. I’ve always lived in houses with sinks. Since the 1970s.

Littlecaf · 22/07/2021 21:57

Christ there are kids in the world without food.

HasaDigaEebowai · 22/07/2021 22:04

In all seriousness, how about a workstation sink. You could use it as a drinks cooler for parties
