Different colour islands

Does anyone have this? I've seen lots of subtle colour changes in colours but I'm considering a really radical contrast. I like a shaker style
In white but I'm really taken with a glossy red island.

White quartz worktops along the wall units - not sure about the island. Flooring will be slate effect or engineered oak.

Am I being ridiculous?

A lot of people have a different colour island! I think it looks great!
But I would have it match your units.

A colour contrast could work, but I definitely wouldn’t change your unit style, it’ll look really odd and out of place. I’d probably use a matt contrast on shaker for the island and most likely the same work surface too.

Nothing wrong with adding a burst of colour, but I'd keep it all the same style too, personally.

When we fitted our kitchen (in-frame from HKOC) we painted the island F&B Oval Room Blue and the perimeter cabinets LG Knightsbridge. We liked the Oval Room Blue so much that last year we repainted all the base cabinets to match the island.

We only have three wall cabinets and they are cream.

We do hats bright red Bertazzoni range though 😆

I'm loving the red - it was either green or red - Welsh Grin

Ill definitely keep the same styoe although I'm torn between a shaker or a gloss.

Shaker can be repainted more easily than gloss.

BlackAlys · 21/07/2021 08:02

Thanks everyone.
@LittleOverWhelmed wow, it's beautiful! Really gorgeous! I don't see any radiators there - do you have underfloor heating?

I've done it and I really love it. White kitchen with dark stone and dark grey island with think white statement top. Wish I'd gone shaker but DH didn't want to!!

nomoneytreehere · 19/08/2021 20:09

@Hebeee would you post a picture of your hkoc in oval room blue? That's what I'm thinking about going for. Are you pleased with hkoc? The price has come out comparable with diy Helmsley for me (probably because I'm having everything altered!!). Thanks.

NautaOcts · 19/08/2021 20:17

I thought you were going to be asking whether it was a trend that has already seen it’s day… and was worried as I have a contrasting island

There’s a lot of it about so go for it.
Ours are painted wooden units - F & B skylight round the outside and a darker blue on the island, a fired earth colour but name escapes me

Hebeee · 19/08/2021 20:42

Hi @nomoneytreehere I'd love to, but having tried posting a pic from my phone (only means of internet in this very rural location 🙄) I've sadly been unable to. Very sorry.....

We are very pleased with HKOC, yes. No personal experience of DIY Kitchens to compare though 😉
