Problems with new house

We have moved into a newly renovated house a few weeks ago.
We have noticed that the main soil pipe/grid is filling up and dynorod man says the pipe is cracked.
Will our insurer cover this given that it's a new policy?
Don't the previous owner (developer) have some responsibility to make sure basic services are working?

You should be covered on a new build (I saw a news piece that the length of cover was being extended?) and the developer should fix it

Ah just saw that it isn’t a new build but a new renovation (what I get for reading too fast) - I think it will be yours to fix as the property was bought as seen.

Not a new build-newly renovated and extended by a developer.

No you won’t get any recourse from the developer. Did your surveyor not see anything amiss?
No idea about insurance, but check your excess.

I wondered about the surveyor.
Excess not too bad.
