Blocked up bathroom window

I am trying to figure out how best to deal with a large window opening in our bathroom. We have built a room the other side of the window and the window has been split to create an alcove each side of the wall. Originally was told they would tile in to make it match the rest of the wall but tiler is worried that would risk having to retile the whole wall. Now thinking just plaster and paint and put some nice shelving in but am worried it will look rubbish. Anyone ever done similar or have clever ideas?
Picture attached of it plasterboarded.

I’d put a mirror there.
Or a fake window framing a beautiful ‘view’.

Big mirror

Ha, cross post!

Mirror on the left, shelves on the right!

Ooo, I like the mirror idea on the left, especially as we are having a sun tunnel put in and that would help bounce the light about. Thanks!

Feature mosaic tile (small scale, toning in colour and grout e.g.: opaque glass, mother of pearl) with glass shelves in the alcove and plain large mirror on the left.

Shelve the alcove and have a mirror door and matching mirror panel to left.

I wouldn't put a plain mirror to the left as it'd be in an awkward place to be useful. I'd try and make an arty feature of it instead, perhaps using some mirrored tiles if you wanted to enhance the light in the room. I might put some cubby holes in the alcove and a couple of shelves on the left with some nice plants.

Thank you all for the ideas! Fingers crossed it's plastered by the end of the week!
