Preparing to move one day?

I'm in the process of buying a house, latest updates are we're all dealing with enquiries. I don't like to count my chickens though and keep expecting it to all fall apart. So I'm telling myself we will move eventually even if not the house we're in the process of buying.

But I want to get a bit organized in case it does all go through. What preparation can I make that would apply to any house move?

So far I have sorted out our drawer of random shit and keys. I now have all spare keys labelled up. I am deep cleaning, including pulling out furniture and hoovering behind it. I think this covers both moving and having to put our house back on the market. Any other things I could be doing?

De clutter like mad - we did it around three times and got rid of loads of stuff
Go through wardrobes, cupboards - everything and Chuck, recycle or charity shop everything. Don’t want to move or pack stuff you don’t need

Food cupboard - deffo have a clear out
If you have a garden keep on top of it
Clear sheds

Make lists of companies/people you'd need to tell about a change of address and find out how to do it (I think my bank was quite a complicated process from memory).

Yes to declutter
Loft, sheds, garage, clothes, kitchen cupboards.
It’s very therapeutic.
And get some prices for removals.

We are in a similar situation, our sale fell through once and now we are reluctant to start packing in case it happens again.

In prep for selling we put some bits in storage (a couple of bookcases and their contents).

I've sorted through the kitchen cupboards and fridge. I'm pregnant, so have packed all of my pre-pregnancy clothes which don't fit any more.

This weekend I plan to go through the shed, put everything in a box that isn't already (loose bike tools etc) and pack up some books.

Very much putting off sorting out the drawer of junk in the kitchen...

@Fleurty sounds like a good idea, I can think of loads off the top of my head but I bet there are loads I won't have remembered so I can keep adding to it.

@rubyslippers definitely doing this again. Have all DS2s primary uniform to get rid of. Pretty sure DS1 has loads of too small clothes in his wardrobe.

@Andthenanothercupoftea I've been thinking about getting a storage unit. Part of the reason we're moving is because we need more space. We were going to use one when we actually move but I'm beginning to think it might be a good idea anyway.
