Oak table coloured legs

I have recently bought a second hand solid oak table which needs some tlc. It is similar to the attached photo.

The painted areas need repainting and I am thinking of painting them black. Do you think that will look ok? Whole room needs decorating so don’t need to worry about it matching anything yet!

If you’re not matching it to anything specific then go for it! I’ve just painted ours a really dark grey, and it’s really changed the look of the table. A rubbish photo but this was the first coat, it’s had another since and sealed. Still debating whether to stick with just the legs or to do the rest….
