What would you ask?

FTB just looking for a bit of advice, due to complete in 2 weeks and we have arranged to do a final visit to our new house tomorrow to do some final measurements
I'm trying to write a list of what to ask the owners which could be useful, so far all I've got is gas/electric/water meter and to ask if there is anything which causes them recurring problems - what else would you suggest we ask which could be helpful for us?

I'd ask if they have any local contacts: plumber, electrician, handy man etc. Also bin collection times. I think they may be reluctant to tell you any recurring problems!

Have you exchanged yet or not?

hopefully2021 · 15/07/2021 12:23

yes we have exchanged already

Check where the water stopcock is, usually under the sink but mine wasn't!

Bin day is pretty obvious, you’ll just see everyone else put theirs out the night before.

Unless you live in the middle of nowhere 🙂

Ask them to leave any spare paint, extra tiles or carpet offcuts they may have. If you like a particular colour, ask what paint they did it in. Ask what is the best takeaway in the neighbourhood!

What takeaway delivers? If you have a fire/multi fuel stove, who the local coalman and wood supplier is, if there is a local milkman, if it’s oil fired heating - who the local supplier is or if there is a co operative you can join.
