Quotes for retaining oak retaining wall/ steps

Hi, I'm having a low retaining wall built with steps inbuilt. I want it to be made out of oak sleepers for longevity. It will be 8meters long, 5 sleepers high and 4 steps up.

I've been quoted 3 different prices - 1.5K, but a bad feeling about the landscaper, I found some bad reviews. 2.8K and 3.5k. the 3.5K has the best reviews.

Has anyone had this kind of work done and is 3.5K reasonable or ridiculous!!??

Thanks!

Oak sleepers aren't a long term solution, they are a 10 year solution at most. I'd get it brickedand faced with sleepers should you wish.

We had a raised bed in our back garden made from sleepers. We were there 10 years and it had been put in by previous owners. It was 4 sleepers high and about 9 metres long. It was fine.

But wouldn’t steps be snippy when wet?

Just had a long block wall built for 1.5 k…that will definitely last.
