Builder recommendations SW London

Greetings all :
I am not certain if recommendations are permitted on Mumsnet.
Builders : I found a builder [ eventually ] via check-a-trade. He and his team did a great job in renovating a bathroom, including knocking into a separate toilet. Very pleased with the result. The second part of the refurbishment was the hallway, landing and a few other areas. 3 weeks later, I am still waiting for the quote, he doesn't return calls and hasn't responded to messages.
We had a great rapport, but business is business and I am assuming he has bigger jobs such as extensions and loft conversions - the initial work took place during the last lockdown and assume work was less busy. Doesn't excuse ignoring calls, if only to say, sorry - I am too busy .... A shame, their tiling was absolutely amazing. Italian mother kept them fed and watered to an inch of their lives !

The thought of having to start researching builders again is far from appealing. Which brings me here - any recommendations for South West London?

I even considered working the next phase piece by piece, i.e. engage a plasterer, then a painter, carpenter, plumber etc but advice from friends lead me to believe it will work out more expensive.
There are a good number of individuals who post on Facebook Marketplace with their trade and even considered calling some of those, or Gumtree. I don't know that placing my entire energy in Check a trader is the answer.

Interested to hear / read the experience of others.
