Painting a composite door

Has anyone ever done this? Our front door is really badly faded and looks pretty ropey. We can see from Google maps pics it must be coming up for 20 years old. It's still doing its job fine however. We'd just like to tart it up for a couple of years until we can afford to replace it.

If you've painted a composite door what paint did you use? Are you pleased with it or are you crossing your fingers every time it rains?

I'd love to hear anyone's experience with it, TIA. X

You can get specialist paint, I'm sure Farrow and Ball sell it, but other companies will also Im sure

Check out French Chic on FB loads of people painting their front doors. Lots of tips and inspiration.

Some of our neighbours actually got their composite doors sprayed with PVC. Looks really good.

French chic paint is brilliant. My neighbour has just painted a mahogany UPVC front door with it, and the result is stunning.

Thanks everyone, I will do some French Chic researching!

Also check the decorating centre online. They post videos and tutorials of this stuff and mix matches to almost all main brands.

They’re super helpful if you message them on Instagram with what you are trying to achieve.

This - welliguessthisisgrowingup.co.uk/2020/06/09/how-to-paint-a-pvc-front-door/ is quite useful

We did it in our last house and it really improved the look. If I remember correctly we go a special primer from B&Q and then used matt paint on top, all fairly easy although slight trauma having to keep door open whilst it dried!
