Professional carpet clean in new house? Any London recommendations?

We're moving into our first house, and the stairs and upstairs rooms (excluding bathrooms!) are carpeted. They don't look particularly unclean, but that may not mean a lot, and I'm wondering if it's a bit icky to use them without getting them professionally cleaned first? Would you do that, and is it worth it?

Can anyone recommend good, reasonably-priced carpet (steam) cleaners in London (in particular north London)? I browsed a few places online and some of the prices looked extortionate, and I have no idea of their quality. I'd much rather go with recommendations if possible. Thanks in advance!

Wizard Cleaning. They came to me in Highbury twice & I was really happy with them on both occasions. I think they cover most of London.

I got mine cleaned but wish I’d not bothered as ripping them out… the previous owners were not as careful as they could have been moving out and also carpets which had looked pristine had marks on them…

I’d wait til you are in and then assess… carpet cleaners can work around beds etc if you do it in 1st few days

PS - I really would steam clean them if you are keeping them, you don’t know who or what has been on them

We already have the house — we're moving from a rental, so have another two weeks to move in slowly. So we've seen the carpets post-completion (but haven't yet moved in any of our furniture), and they look like they're in pretty good condition. But as you say, @DespairingHomeowner, I don't know what's been on them. Do most people get carpets cleaned in a new place if they're not planning to rip them out immediately?

If you want them cleaning just get them done. It doesn't really matter what anyone else does or thinks. We've never bothered but then we don't walk around barefoot, sit or lie on the floor and don't have a baby or small child!

If so, get them cleaned so they have time to dry

My friends don’t tend to, I do - and moths is another reason. Expect to pay about £80 a room, but you will get avoid discount for getting all of them done. No reccos as not in your area of London. I’d ask your EA which company they use for their lettings

A big, not ‘avoid’.

I’d want it done too.

I have used Perfect Clean twice for carpet cleaning.
