Survey for remortgage

Had mine today. Are all surveyors doom and gloom?!
He was sucking his teeth the second he came in about how I bought at a bad time for a high price, how the garden (it's an apartment with a private garden) isn't private so doesn't add anything etc etc
I'm petrified it will get downvalued and the mortgage won't go through 😭
There's nothing comparable, mine is 75sq metres and everything nearby is 55-60sq metres and no garden

They are all like that apparently - the one who came to value ours was a total dick, ranted at me about how terrible the area was. He valued it as marketed 🙄 try not to worry x

Ours was valued today (for a sale), the chap (and they always seem to be men) was a complete dick. Doom and gloom had nothing nice to say and could barely be civil. Seems to be a requirement for the job!

No, we had one about 3 weeks ago, valued it higher than we expected.

Came in, said he'd seen the house a few years ago pre-extension and loved what we'd done Smile.

I think it depends if they know the local market because it makes a massive difference.

We had a lovely lady come and survey the house we just sold for our buyers’ lender. Took about ten minutes, said how nice it was and that she’d sign off. I am however very worried about the mortgage valuation survey on the house I’m trying to buy as it was a seven party bidding war so went for way over asking.

I can afford say 5-10k down value
There's apartments locally that have sold for 80k but they're grim, not as big, no garden etc
Estate agent said 125k to market if sold which is what it was in 2007
Mortgage needs 115k valuation and I have an awful feeling he's going to value at 80

My remortgage surveyor was very pleasant but gave absolutely nothing away. In fact I never even got to see his report

NotMyCat · 05/07/2021 12:56

I knew it. Down valued by 25k Angry
It should still go through hopefully
