At the top of our chain there is a seemingly endless merry go round of enquiries that don’t seem to get bottomed out. Meanwhile we are sat here like chumps with our lives on hold!!!

Anyone in the same boat?

Yes! Ready to exchange on our sale and purchase, but the vendor at the top pulled out of a purchase in May and has just had an offer accepted on a chain free property. Really happy that things are back on track (nothing else suitable has come on the market) but oh so fed up of being in limbo and waiting on someone else!

Us too! Gutted to have missed 30th June deadline but now we just want to exchange and MOVE HOUSE. Our solicitor has been hopeless... basically stalling until she went on holiday yesterday (without telling us!)

All right for them, they don’t have to pay stamp duty!

Now my solicitor is saying another week before we can complete.

Are you in a chain @FerretFumbler? Is it holding firm or is anyone threatening to pull out having missed the deadline? Our lower chain seems fed up but OK... fingers crossed.

It is an improvement having the cover solicitor I think, I can bamboozle her by sending her emails saying 'but surely this was done already?' and she apologises for not being up to speed and scuttles off to take some action.

We are also waiting. And waiting.
Some indemnity insurances were banded about earlier this week, I threw some mid July completion dates at my solicitor last week to try and find the light at the end of the tunnel….

No response. I let them off chasing this week as I assumed they were busy with everyone else’s cases

No real chain, just my FTB, me and the probate property I’m buying. Sounds all very simple but has been going on on since Feb!

@FerretFumbler it is a probate holding us up too!!! What has it been for you? Since feb, that’s a long time, making me more worried now x

Same here. We’ve been waiting for an exchange date since Feb! We had a very arrogant top of the chain that messed everyone around for 4 months. Someone further up pulled out and very quickly got an offer accepted on a no chain property, so we’re just waiting for the conveyancing etc to be done on that property. It’s very frustrating but at the same time I feel much less stressed compared to earlier this year.

Yes, should have exchanged on Weds but...didn't.

I don't mind waiting a wee bit for exchange but we absolutely must complete on a particular date later this month, no alternatives, so starting to get a bit antsy!

Gosh these all seem very slow I hope mine doesn't carry on that long. I offered on my new property at the beginning of May. My house went on the market mid May and I accepted an offer for it on 24th May. My solicitor has searches back on my purchase and we have done the contents form and I have the property information and contents documents for my purchase. My solicitor has received draft contract from vendor's solicitor and has sent same to my buyer's solicitor. Now I wait. Just hoping it doesn't drag on too long. Only 3 in the chain. My buyers are 1st time buyers and the lady at the house I'm buying is going into rented. I am retiring and finish work on 30th July. Itching to be off.
