Gutters

I feel like I should know the answer to this, I've owned a home for a few years but until recently a family member sorted out the gutters for us! I noticed plants growing in them this week so thought I needed them clearing out, contacted a company who said this... just the exterior or did you want them clearing too?
What do I need? Not sure what they mean about the exterior and don't want to ask! And how regularly should I be doing this? Thanks!

They can clean the gutters out to remove weeds, etc and/or wash the plastic facings to make them clean again. I need mine clearing out once or twice a year due to the trees around me. I've only have the pvc washed a handful of times

Demented pixie thank you that does make sense. So I think I just want them clearing out to get rid of weeds etc that's great.
Will however take a look outside tomorrow and see if they look particularly grubby outside!
