F&B emergency

ginoginellizzz · 29/06/2021 21:14

So it seems Farrow and ball are having issues with their modern emulsion and have run out of a chemical for their bulk production and have therefore sold out everywhere of light blue. I am in desperate need of this paint or a colour similar for this week. Can anyone recommend a gorgeous light grey/blue similar to F&B light blue that i could check out. Thank you!!!!

Can you not get b&q to colour match?

forpeeetssake · 29/06/2021 21:22

Johnstones will colour match with the f&b number code. We have the light blue from there in our bedroom and it's really nice

Warmduscher · 29/06/2021 21:23

That’s an emergency, is it?

Och get a sense of humour!!

We had Dulux professional range paint that was colour matched to F&B borrowed light. The painters told us they preferred the formula as it went on more evenly anyway.

That’s an emergency, is it?
I'd say so!
ginoginellizzz · 29/06/2021 21:28

Bahhh ha ha ha yes it is an F&B emergency. They have none left anywhere in the U.k. and I need it urgently. I haven't called 999 though, I've posted on mumsnet.

They could name a new colour Emergency... It sounds good!

Flaunch · 29/06/2021 21:29

Get it made and Johnstone’s and it’ll be better paint anyway.

JulesM73 · 29/06/2021 21:31

I would go to Johnstone’s and get them to colour match. My decorator also says it’s better quality paint as well as being cheaper.

I have a Johnson's near by, I'm going to venture there tomorrow the second they open. Thank you everyone.

I had a tin of F&B light blue delivered last week and it exploded in the fedex van on delivery. Covered the poor guy! Called F&B and they said that was the very last one in stock.

Such a F&B nightmare!

Definitely Johnstone’s. We use the acrylic durable matt

TimeTarroganStrife · 29/06/2021 21:40

Decorating centre online make great F&B colour match paint, good luck!

PragmaticWench · 29/06/2021 21:41

I'm loving a F&B nightmare, brilliant! Grin

Don’t colour match. Light blue is my favourite F and B colour. I’ve had three rooms done in it. Decorator persuaded me to colour match and I had to redo it as it was nowhere near as good. How about the estate emulsion instead? Or Mylands volutes if London have some similar blues.

Ulysses · 29/06/2021 21:58

I’ve just painted our bedroom in modern emulsion Green Smoke. Not sure why people insist on saying other brands are a better quality. The pigmentation in the F&B gives it much more depth and looks terrific in the different lighting as the day goes on. It’s not something colour matching can give you.

Funnily enough my decorator loved the F&B paint that I got for one our rooms that he chose it for his own home.

(Sorry that doesn’t help with getting Light Blue.)

gavisconismyfriend · 29/06/2021 22:04

Try Vintro - they have beautiful vintage shades

ginoginellizzz · 29/06/2021 22:05

This is my fear @musmeriman I have obsessed about this colour for YEARS! I finally get the chance to decorate my new house and it is NOWHERE. I am pained! I think if I colour match and it's not exact I would be so sad.

I have no alternative than to venture to Johnson's tomorrow to get a version of my beloved light blue.

I would go for Estate emulsion but it's for my new en-suite and kitchen so need the modern. Urghhhhhhhhh

It really is. As I have both, colour matched and the actual paint and I can assure you to thr naked eye there is no difference

Mine too.

He says F&B is shit paint and outrageously expensive. He colour matches all mine in Johnstone’s.

BeautifulandWilfulandDead · 30/06/2021 07:57

Apart from being outrageously expensive, I find F&an doesn't apply or wear as well as Dulux so I always colour match. They do it at Homebase. Smile

I would defend to the death someone's right to be F&B purists but the pigmentation thing is a myth. We did DD's room in colour matched Peignoir and it changes with the light. It's beautiful.

Remember that poster, LeQueen/LaQueen, who used to pounce on about F&B?

Bluesheep8 · 30/06/2021 09:47

That’s an emergency, is it?

The thread title does specify that it's an F and B emergency. F and B emergencies are totally different to normal emergencies. I know because I've had a few myself Grin

user9086336 · 30/06/2021 10:09

We colour matched F&B Hague blue with valspar and I think it looks brilliant, colour and quality looks great. Can't really compare it as I don't have the F&B paint but I'm happy with the match so it really doesn't matter!
