Joiner credentials??

Does anyone know what bodies/credentials I should check before appointing a joiner to build fitted wardrobes? I found him on my local FB mums group and reviews go back about 6 months, all very positive with pictures etc.

I've had a couple of other quotes which come up about 20% more and found out it's because this joiner is young - think maybe early 20s (definitely not older). He's been over to quote and we got extremely good vibes, really nice guy but much newer to the trade than others.

Before I appoint this trader I wondered what insurances etc I should be wary of. Is there some kind of body he would need to be registered with in order to be legit? Sorry if I'm not making sense but can't think of the correct terminology Grin

Hmmm you don’t really need qualifications to be a joiner. I would say most are trained on the job , I’ve seen experienced joiners make a real rough job of things but also amateur diyers make a really good job.

It all boils down to how much pride in their work the person doing the job takes ? If I was you I would try and get them a smaller job to do first, that way you can get a feel/idea of how competent/ conscientious they are.

Ah thank you@Chumleymouse that's comforting to hear. The guy we want to instruct is so passionate and I can see he had an Etsy shop before (stuff looks amazing) and I'm keen to get a dolls house made so that's a great idea! The reviews on Facebook and also his recommendations made me really want to meet him, his manner is brilliant as well and we just get incredibly good vibes (we have used many contractors before).

Excellent Grin feel much better hearing this! Thanks!
