Hi I’m moving to a new house and plan to do an extension but the vendor won’t tell me where the kitchen is we from so that I can add extra units and had for quite nasty after me asking… am I being unreasonable?

Get a builder to visit and ask them, my parents have just done the same as they wanted new doors on the units. He could tell immediately and has saved them a fortune since they don’t have to replace the whole units.

I think this thread demonstrates that literally every kitchen company does shaker style units in a neutral colour. Well I never.

DogInATent · 26/06/2021 09:10

Generic kitchen #3, fairly standard to most suppliers I imagine as the base dimensions are all standardised.

Take a door off and take it on a tour of the usual suspects.

knittingaddict · 26/06/2021 09:12

There might be a clue inside the cupboards. Those little plastic covers over the hinges sometimes have a brand name on them. Just wait till you move in op.

It's looks like it's from Moore's

MMAMPWGHAP · 26/06/2021 09:30

Quick point. Ikea changed their units around 2014. If I remember rightly the widths of the units changed too.

As you can see OP, you won’t struggle with finding standard cream shaker units and then just match up the handles. They all look the same and everywhere sells them.

Little known landlord tip- The distance between the centre of the door hinge barrels usually tells you. Open ant door and measure centre to centre where the hinges attach to the doors. Most companies are different; B and Q/IKEA/Howdens etc. Also the runners for the drawers are specific too and often a sticker down the side of the drawer.

My mum has this kitchen (same colour, handles and worktops). She got it from Wickes.

DogsSausages · 26/06/2021 10:24

They have those in Dreamdoors, their classic shaker range.

Ozanj · 26/06/2021 10:27

Measure the doors and look on the Ikea and B&Q websites. I agree it’s from one of those.

MyAnacondaMight · 26/06/2021 10:32

I don’t think it’s IKEA - the wall cabinet looks far too shallow. My bet is on Howdens.

@AnotherKrampus

Pretty uggly, why would you want more of that...!
Shouldn't you be on the naff things in people's houses thread?

I don't think so, I think that's a more limited budget range.

You can tell Faktum from Metod as the plinth height is lower for Metod and I don't think Faktum did 80cm but might be wrong on that.

I can't see the same handles on Ikea's site either. (I know people can pick from anywhere but they are so standard I'd assume they came from same supplier).

The vendor's sound weird though unless you asked in an aggressive way or something.

MrsFlinch · 26/06/2021 17:03

Ours is the same but different colour and is from diy kitchens. They did loads of different colours when we got ours. I remember wickes doing the same one at the time but was 3x the price of ours.

Shouldn’t be too hard to match.

SwimBaby · 26/06/2021 17:43

They look like Howdens to me.
