In the right house….with the right decoration. ?

Just seen a house with one on a thread here and though…you know…that doesn’t look that bad.

@AtillatheHun

I love them in the right context - glorious giant Art Deco coloured suites. Would love one. The fruity metcalfe suite at burgh island got me started!
Yes, the glorious coloured original Art Deco ones are truly fabulous. I’d happily have one of those.
BackforGood · 24/06/2021 23:47

No, you aren't mad at all. When we replaced our bathroom, I wouldn't have chosen white, if ANY supplier had a choice.

Giggorata · 24/06/2021 23:53

I've promised myself one of these with matching basin in a cloakroom when we get the building work done.

I hear they're the next big bathroom trend actually.

My grandparents did have a couple of coloured bathroom suites in non offensive colours that I always like as a child. They could probably pass muster today tbh.

littlebillie · 25/06/2021 01:27

An elderly relative had a beautiful buttercup yellow suite in their down stairs restroom. It was original Art Deco with big chunky taps, it was beautiful and I would definitely have one like it.

littlebillie · 25/06/2021 01:29

@CheerfulBunny

I've moved into OHs house and he has a shell pink suite because he couldn't give a crap about his house in all honesty which initially horrified me. I've tried to embrace it and given the bathroom a 'Miami beach' tropical theme, installing a shower curtain with big leaves and parrots, plants etc. I can live with it by pretending I'm in The Golden Girls, I guess, but it's nice to know that we may actually be bang on trend.
They are definitely going to be desired, realise your dash forward position

@GidgetGirl I fucking love you! I'm saving up to get my bathroom done and have looked everywhere for coloured suited. You're a star!

RainbowMum11 · 25/06/2021 02:28

My Gran had a blue one; Grandma had the light green one and we had the pink one - all ceramic ones.
I actually rather liked them xxx

Thisisus909 · 25/06/2021 02:36

We have a coloured bathroom and I like it. I think they’ll come back round. Ours is also so well made compared to modern bathrooms.

MotherOfCrocodiles · 25/06/2021 03:01

But will colour coordinated bog roll be back?

My parents used to buy peach for upstairs and blue for the downstairs loo!

WeIcomeToGilead · 25/06/2021 03:13

My husband wouldn’t let me have one but I love them so much ♥️

And yes he was so dead set against it that it became an issue 🙄

1forAll74 · 25/06/2021 03:17

I used to have an ochre coloured one in the 1970''s era. not yellow or mustard but lovely and warm coloured. My bathroom was all bright and sunny in the Summer, and the ochre made it warm and cosy in the winter. I had this colour installed, after ripping out a pale blue one,as I hate anything blue in the house..

A friend of mine in those days, had a dark maroon bathroom suite, and that was a bit grim.

Oblomov21 · 25/06/2021 03:34

No. I don't like them. Any of them. Dh had light blue when I moved in here. Took years before we could afford to change bathroom to white.

Huge thanks for that link Venus, you may have solved all my 'bringing together the bathroom design so it all works' problems. Depending on how eye watering the prices are...

BarkingUpTheWrongRoseBush · 25/06/2021 06:49

Just lookin at prices on eBay…they are coming back I think!

I worship at the alter of Sophie Robinson and love pink, so our guest en suite is going to have a pink suite. I haven’t told DH but as it’s the spare room which will double as my office he doesn’t get a say 😉

Arriettyborrower · 25/06/2021 07:06

The multi coloured one linked to above in grand designs was on more 4 last night!

I agree, they are lovely, and definitely due a come back. We had a black shower tray and black walls with black and white star tiles in our last house.

drpet49 · 25/06/2021 07:08

No, they are horrid and vile

Howdidigetsoold · 25/06/2021 07:27

I love how everyone is getting back into making their houses more individual and not bland

I love the pastel Art Deco ones

Yes! I saw it by chance. Maybe it’s A Sign.
MaMelon · 25/06/2021 08:15

Primrose yellow bathroom suite does not equal not bland - it equals 60s grim. I've just sold my dad's house with the original yellow suite and good riddance to it.

A beautiful art deco house with the original suite can just about get away with it. 60s, 70s houses - forget it.

Don't do it people - your children will hate you for it.

Roselilly36 · 25/06/2021 08:15

When we moved into our house, the family bathroom was a full suite of Avocado, en-suite was sand, and downstairs cloak room was grey. I think coloured suites will make a come back.

Chemenger · 25/06/2021 08:17

I think I would quite like a yellow one. Dark colours are awful, they show every spot of toothpaste, soap or dust. We had a brown suite in a student flat and it was grim.

Eminybob · 25/06/2021 08:19

I watched that episode of grand designs last night too.
As she was choosing the various pieces I was WTAF it’s going to look revolting. But actually it looked stunning. Mostly due to the grey walls I think.

Rollerbird · 25/06/2021 08:22

We used to have the pink bathroom and the blue bathroom at my parents house.
