In the right house….with the right decoration. ?

Just seen a house with one on a thread here and though…you know…that doesn’t look that bad.

Absolutely yes!!

tilder · 24/06/2021 20:51

@BarkingUpTheWrongRoseBush

Or this
That is a thing of beauty.
Greenmarmalade · 24/06/2021 20:52

To be clear- yes to the colours, not you’re absolutely mad!

MikeWozniaksGloriousTache · 24/06/2021 20:53

@AnnieSnap

I remember it all first time around, so I’m wary about having anything but white. I used to have a Damask bathroom suite 😮 This was not mine, but it gives you an idea 🥴
I’m pretty sure DPs parents have this exact suite still Grin it fascinates me. I love coloured stuff but the depressing maroon is a step too far for me.
MaMelon · 24/06/2021 20:53

Imagine a dark navy suite against white tiling, why isn't this a thing

Or white suite against navy walls…that you can paint over Grin

MyDcAreMarvel · 24/06/2021 20:54

@BarkingUpTheWrongRoseBush hopefully not avocado.

BarkingUpTheWrongRoseBush · 24/06/2021 20:54

Hard water areas are more difficult…white soap scum. And brown suites should never have been a thing.

But pastel…definitely due a revival.

You're not alone! I love them. We rented a house which had a wonderful creamy pink suite with a scalloped edge. I still think wistfully about it from time to time.

thelegohooverer · 24/06/2021 20:57

I love the pastel colours too. The beige and avocado not so much

BarkingUpTheWrongRoseBush · 24/06/2021 20:58

@MyDcAreMarvel. Good clip

There was one years ago on Grand Designs that was incredible, there's an interesting article about it here. It must have been about the time grey walls were coming into fashion, I remember being blown away by it.

PeterPomegranate · 24/06/2021 21:00

I think like all fashions they’re due to come back.

I quite fancy cork flooring.

RoseAddict · 24/06/2021 21:03

I assume you all know this

RoseAddict · 24/06/2021 21:03

Ah! @MyDcAreMarvel got there first!

SimonJT · 24/06/2021 21:04

It does depend on the type of bathroom, a friend has a very pale pink suite (with roll top bath) and it looks really nice.

You can go for hints of colour, we have a pink basin on an oak cabinet in our en-suite, it looks really nice despite my crap explanation.

PeterPomegranate · 24/06/2021 21:04

@GidgetGirl

I fitted a bright yellow one in my last place and it was beeaauutiful. Brokenbog.com is the place to go!

Oh my! Now I want a coral pink suite.

YellowandGreenToBeSeen · 24/06/2021 21:04

They’re gonna make a come back. Very cool amongst the cool young things already.

Mind, I’d pair that lovely green Art Deco suite against glossy dark green tiles. It’d look like a beautiful plant!

Firsttimecatlady · 24/06/2021 21:05

@BarkingUpTheWrongRoseBush

Or this
My Grandma and Grandads exact suite! That gorgeous square basin too- adore! Smile
MajesticWhine · 24/06/2021 21:05

I agree it's time for a comeback I don't see a fundamental problem with it.

JamMakingWannaBe · 24/06/2021 21:05

I used to have a whisper grey suite. Loved it at the time.

JaninaDuszejko · 24/06/2021 21:11

I adore cork flooring, it is definitely going in our main bathroom at some point. Don't think it'll go with a mint art deco bathroom suite though Grin.

My parents had a navy suite with cork floor and patterned tiles. Super trendy when they did it in the late 70s.

Anotherlovelybitofsquirrel · 24/06/2021 21:13

Ooh I love a coloured suite! Remember them the first time around too.

Chicchicchicchiclana · 24/06/2021 21:16

I think they'll make a come-back. I like a turquoise or pink suite. Not so keen on the dark colours.

Medianoche · 24/06/2021 21:19

From my personal experience of growing up with exactly this bathroom, I can testify that the answer to this question is ‘Limescale’. A navy bath suite might look great in a soft water area, but anywhere with hard water, it’s a very bad idea indeed.
APurpleSquirrel · 24/06/2021 21:21

I grew up with a yellow suite - possibly Mimosa? Think Primrose is too bright from what I remember. & we had cork floor tiles too - they were awesome! Want them in our next house. So warm!
