amtico in bathroom - textured, plain? Under the fixtures?

Have you installed amtico in a bathroom after all the fixtures are in? I'm not looking to replace the bathroom just yet, only the floor. The flooring companies say it's fine just to have it up to the edge of the toilet and sink, no need to go underneath. I've read that it looks better to have those taken up, but the hassle of getting a plumber to do it, and then come back and replace them later, is a lot. How much of a difference does it make? I guess if I had the bathroom replaced later and the fixtures were different shape, I could have those panels that had been cut around it replaced, if I wasn't already having the whole floor replaced?

I was going to have a stone like colour, maybe a ceramic one, but some of them have quite a bit of texture on them, especially the darker ones. I don't know if this hides dirt, or makes them harder to clean! The smooth ones are a medium-dark grey.

I was looking at quite dark colours, dark grey or black, with light stripping. The fixtures are white, the walls too, and the tiles in the bath are black, silver, grey mosaic, and I have sort of grey/white cupboards, with some coloured accessories. Does a dark floor sound OK? There is no natural light/window!
