How would you ‘George Clarke’ this house?

Been to see this house today. We really like it and it is liveable for now. The vendors have really looked after it.
The ground floor just has a bit of an odd layout ... so I’m interested to know if it was yours, how would you reconfigure it?
FYI there is a window from the living room to the conversatory which is makes it a bit dingy at the moment (although the back is south facing...gorgeous garden!!).
There is also the issue of the odd placing of the toilet and shower next to the kitchen, in the one storey extension that was added,
We would still like a downstairs toilet, utility, dining area and play room/second reception area. It all just needs opening up and brightening up. We have the budget to add an extension.
We don’t know any builders to run it by so I’m leaving it in MNers capable hands Wink

Could you block the door to the downstairs toilet by the kitchen and instead move the door so that you enter from the dining room straight into the utility. You would need to walk through the utility to get to the loo, but I would prefer that if it was my house.

It would potentially give you more kitchen worktop/ storage space as well.

Thats a strange layout. I thought you were supposed to have two internal doors between a loo and a kitchen? I'm sure I picked up that gem of info from my dad who was a builder, but he's been dead 25 years so that me be an out of date notion.

Have a proper garden Room extension instead of the conservatory and open it up from the lounge so you get one big L shaped room.

Knock kitchen and dining room into one for open plan kitchen dining area.
Block the door to the toilet so only entrance to the toilet is via utility.

Get rid of the conservatory and add an extension, knock wall from lounge down to open up to a big living area.
Play room at the back.

Great suggestions thank you! I am trying to update the floorplan on my phone and make a diagram - not easy! Never thought of moving the door in the kitchen. God knows why they put those rooms that way round! Also agree with extension instead of conversatory.
Now to try find out how much it would most likely cost??
It is in West Yorkshire if anyone had any ideas

The current sink and hob mean that you have your back to the dining area. Take down the rest of the wall between kitchen and dining and put prep and hob there. Maybe leave sink where it is, so you get the view out of the front. Place fridge & freezer somewhere to make The Triangle. Turn loo into pantry, put loo under stairs - also saves visitors tramping through your kitchen to get to the loo.
Put an extension where the conservatory is and make that, with its view of the garden, your family room. Have a window in it (amongst others) so that there is a complete sight-line/light-line through from front to back, from sink-window through kitchen-diner to back wall window.
Make the lounge the visitor room / adult snug / cinema room. Have a door through to extension so visitors can get there without going through your kitchen-diner (if it doesn't then make the room feel like a corridor).

I would do a side / back extension on the LHS put dining to the rear where the kitchen is - move the kitchen forward to the footprint of the conservatory but only to the edge of the sitting room wall and then have a patio area outside the sitting room with double doors from the kitchen at right angles to double doors from the lounge. You would be able to reconfig your cloaks / utility within that LHS extension easily
