Areas to avoid Cirencester?

DH has been offered a job near to Cirencester so we're looking at moving into or around the area. Cirencester is our first choice at the moment. We have primary and secondary aged DC. Are there any areas of Cirencester we should avoid in respect of good/bad parts, schools etc?

Old local here.
In terms of schools for secondary you only have a choice of 2 and both are fairly equal. I think Deer Park maybe marginally better and is next door to the 6th form college when that next step comes.

I think some of the estate housing around the abby grounds is historically a bit 'rough' and the housing between love lane and the tesco express is a bit unlovely.

Oaklands and the nearby area near the amphitheatre + all the way into town is fairly nice - (plus close to Ampi means some great sledging if it snows)
Stratton/Siddington on either side and the newer estate near kingshill school aren't bad either.

Depending on if you end up in one of the near by villages - often the larger ones will have a local primary and then all the kids get bussed into Ciren for secondary so kids are almost guaranteed to end up in secondary with a few familiar friends
