Fitted wardrobes

We’re buying a thirties house with no built in storage. Was thinking of PAX wardrobes with Shaker doors for 2 of the bedrooms. The bedrooms have picture rails. Would you buy the shorter wardrobe or the 2.36m height and go above the picture rail. Would the fitter just cut it out if we did that? Would that style look ok?

We have Pax (but fitted with bespoke doors and filler panels from a joiner). We bought the taller height and got a section built above them so they go right up to the ceiling. That way there’s no gap to collect dust, i think they also look less bulky as they end up just looking like a wall rather than wardrobes. Could you do this?

Thank you, @minipie, I see what you mean. I made a trip to IKEA yesterday and the taller ones were much nicer. We hopefully complete tomorrow so it will all depend on if there’s enough ceiling height.
