Hi everyone - opinions and advice would be appreciated. I'm considering buying a small, coastal property, but I don't know if it's possible with my budget. The criteria are as follows:

  1. Budget approx. £200k
  2. Within easy-ish reach of Manchester
  3. It needs to be right on the coast - I would love a sea view!
  4. It can be either out-of-the-way or a seaside town, I don't mind (but I'm guessing towns will be more expensive)
  5. Minimum two bedrooms

I'm not from the UK originally so I don't know a lot about whether my budget will accommodate this and if so, whereabouts to search. So far I've just been looking at Google maps and checking possible locations on Rightmove, which isn't getting me very far!

Any property gurus able to help or advise? Thank you!

That looks like a beautiful house, @FadedRed - lots of character, and right on the coast with a sea view! I don't know much about Southport - will research. Thank you for the suggestion!

You will rarely see the sea in Southport, we don't get it coming in all too often! It even makes the news when it comes in!

The Marine Lake is lovely though. And you're near Britain's smallest pub just there too.
