When to start looking and is renting a viable in-between places option?

Hi
When did you start looking at places? My flat will hopefully going on the market in August - is that when I should start hunting round or should wait till I have an offer? Because of where my children are at school I am limited as to where I can move to - would selling my flat, then renting for a bit and then buying (so I am not in a long chain either side) be worth considering?

Things may change but most agents want you to be under offer before viewing, and certainly before entertaining an offer. Rent would be a good option and less stressful.
