Can't read meters?

Just bought a house so looking at reading the gas and electricity meters but I think it won't let you cos seller had a smart meter?
But we can't find smart meter anywhere so she just have taken it with her?
What do we do?

You can’t take a meter from a property, a smart meter sends the reading direct to the utility provider. Have a look inside in cupboards, garage and outside.

I thought you could remove this? If you wanted?

When we looked in the metre the screen was blank and when we pressed A it gave a message we didn't understand and didn't show any numbers.
So we assumed it would be on the smart meter like attached?

Our electricity meter is in a hatch in the ceiling of the downstairs toilet. Have a look at all the ceilings and see if you can see a hatch of any sort.

Do you mean your actual metre? Just cos we know where the actual metre is - it's outside. But as above it's not showing what it normally does? No numbers?

Do you have the phone number for the vendors? If not phone the estate agent in the morning to act as a go between.

There's certain buttons you need to press so you can get the readings. Can you post a picture of the actual meter? Does it have a make and model number on it?

Do you know who the energy supplier is? You need to call them and get instructions for reading the meter

That's the IHD not a Smart Meter. You need to find the actual meters and google the make of them, this will give you instructions on how to take a manual read.

So either way it should be on the metre
I'll have to have a look at this metre again tomorrow morning I think

I googled and there seems to even be a YouTube video showing how to read that meter

The meter should have a make an model on it, Google how to get the reading from that make and model

Mine I have to press A & B together and then something else to get the reading.
