Getting our kitchen done and considering waste disposal which I hadn’t before. Is it worth it ? Is it an expensive addition ? We would only have space for a 1.5 sink. Thks !

We have one. We never use it because it’s crap. It blocks if you put anything vaguely fibrous in it and it makes the drains stink. Completely useless IMO.

Don’t do it! Same as pp, they don’t handle much and stink quickly. We replaced ours.

Whereas I live it more than anything. Make sure you get one with the appropriate capacity for your household and be sensible with what you put down it- it’s only used for plate scrapings / rinsings (ie not peelings that go o to compost, obv not bones / carcass etc). Wouldn’t want to live without one

I had one in a flat years ago. Never used it. I was always concerned about the amount of water needed to keep it from clogging up, plus it always felt weird to wash food waste into the waste water system. Probably irrationally. But I had good food waste recycling, so it wasn't going to landfill. If you don't have recycling or a compost heap, they're probably better than black bin disposal.

I also love ours and use it all the time. Agree that you need to be a bit careful what you put down it but there's not much it can't handle. The thing I love most though is the scraping plates straight into it, particularly half eaten bowls of cereal, lumpy soup etc.

In our previous house the pipe that took away the food apparently wasn’t big enough to take away the waste so it always got blocked. Nothing but a smelly ball-ache.

In this house, it broke after 10 mths (was in the house when we purchased it) so we never replaced it.

Don’t bother!

I love mine, use it all the time. Wouldn't be without it.
