Evening! Has anyone on here had an extension built by Anglian Home Improvements? I know they’re a nationwide company but would be keen to know if anyone has had any work carried out by them and what your experiences are? All feedback greatly appreciated!
Thank you

I haven't, but the reviews for any of their other work and prices are shocking. You are better off going to a local construction company that have good local reviews.

Gladimnotcampinginthisweather · 13/06/2021 22:21

We got a quote for a front door and it was ridiculously high. Then he started all the 'perhaps we can get you a discount' malarchy, ringing his boss etc. I wouldn't recommend them as a company. You are probably better looking locally.

Had a quote for new windows and they were dreadful. Quote was high and all the pressure-selling bs that followed was worse...in the end I went with a local company.

Totally agree with PP’s. Totally over priced and high pressure sales. We had them quote on soffits & gutter replacement, they quoted £18.5k!!! we had it done by a very good local firm £3.2k with a 30 year insurance backed guarantee. Would never give them the chance to quote on another other works. Update the Thread OP, be interesting to hear your experience. Good luck with your extention.

Avoid them like the plague. Over priced, aggressive and bullying sales techniques, poor quality work. Much better to source a small local business with recommendations.

I used to work for a local family owned double glazing firm that covered extensions etc and heard a lot of horror stories from new clients who had either been quoted for a project by Anglian or unfortunately had a project carried out by Anglian that then needed remedial work. Would personally definitely avoid and get a minimum of three quotes in from local, well regarded firms and go from there.

They quoted us nearly £2k for a PVC front door recently!

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 14/06/2021 08:27

Next door had work done by them. Took a lot of effort to get it done properly.

Thanks everyone for your feedback. They’ve quoted us for a small extension which in fairness seemed a reasonable price. We were attracted by the fact they take care of all the planning permission, design work etc. However we knew they had a reputation and were curious to the standard of workmanship. Will keep you all posted

I've used them previously for Windows and doors. The work was ok, there were a few minor problems and I found the customer aftercare to sort this out was shocking. I wouldn't use them again. As soon as they got the money they weren't interested in sorting out the problems.

We tried to get a quote for a conservatory from Anglian, someone came out measured up etc. then phoned to say they wanted to come round with the quote and we asked "well how much is it?" and he refused to say over the phone. I did say it may be a waste of his and our time if it was too high but he said he had to visit, I suspected it would be very high and they would try and browbeat us into signing or offer some stupid discount.
I can't be bothered with companies like that so we never found out what the cost was and we went elsewhere.

Personally I wouldn't bother with them.

About 6 months ago I inquired about getting an Anglian patio door to replace my French Doors. I spoke to an Eastern European man over the phone who began by quoting £2.900, but then began to make up various discounts that he said Anglian could give me and it came down to £1,900 to which he told me how great a deal that was. I said I'd think about it, but he then took off a further £200 and began to hound me for a deal. I then said that I do not want to commit over the phone and I would get back to him, eventually just putting the phone down on him after he began to get frustrated, fing pk! He then had the audacity to call me the next day with a further discount and hound me again for a deal. I eventually just told him to f*k of. For days after I received emails, and then a call from his supervisor who also tried to hound me for a deal. About 4-5 days later I got an email from the little Anglian prk with an attachment that was written in such a way that it read as though I had accepted an offer and this letter was demanding a deposit before an order was placed. Utter P*K! In the email he had copied in other Anglian p*ks to put some sort of pressure on me to buy from him. I replied "All" to the email and told them all to FK OFF! F*ing p**ks!! P.S. I looked around locally and got a really good patio door with fitting for £945. Last month I got a really good front composite door from the same company. 😄

A little tip re this website. You don’t need to * swear words. As long as you aren’t calling other posters sweary names, you can pretty much type what you want re profanities. It makes it much easier to read if you don’t * what you want to say.

Bloody hell @tdm900 they DO sound like utter pricks. No asterisks requires!

It’s amazing that Anglian can continue to function and behave in this way in this time of online reviews. How many thousands will read this post and file under “hell no” forever for example.
