House number confusion

Thatswhat · 12/06/2021 19:37

We've just exchanged on a new build and our house number will be 1D, any tips on how we can stop forever being confused with number 10? I'm thinking a beautiful big house number plaque of some kind?

On our street the houses are officially 1,2,3,4, Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta.

Fwiw, we used to live in 1d and never had any issues!

Change the name to One Direction Smile

1d might work, I feel your pain - I live at 4b and if I call a taxi, I can guarantee it will drive straight past my flat and park outside 46 or 48.

Grin Haha thanks for the replies!
Yes it does unfortunately conjur up images of One Direction doesn't it.
I'll be devestated if my Domino's ends up down tbe road.

We used to live at number 10 on a street where there was also a 1d - we used to get their dominoes (and other take away) orders every weekend without fail and usually at some ungodly hour!

That will be a real pain!!!! I'm guessing the new-build is an infill on an existing street so that the builder doesn't have much choice? Pity he didn't got for Beech House/Maple House etc, 1 Station Road instead!

We've got a house name with a number in it and are next door to that number house (think Six Bells House next to No 6 Station Road) - I'm very tempted to change it!

Thatswhat · 13/06/2021 12:37

Yes that's it GU24, they've managed to fit 4 houses in. I've had a look in to giving it a name and it seems to be a simple enough application and cost about £20 but you still have to keep the number as part of the address...you're right though, really wish the builder had done it instead!

We bought an infill new build and gave it a name as well as the number

We used to live in number XX next to XXa. It made me determined not to do that ever again. We had people banging on the door incessantly when they wanted next door, I had to get my young girls out of the bath after trying to ignore him for 10 minutes. Then the post was mixed up.

I would give yours a name.
