Booking a survey

Hi, we have had an offer accepted on a lovely house and are at the stage of booking the survey. I've found a company that can do it and have some dates.

How do I handle it now? We are waiting for the vendor to find an onward purchase so I guess we wait for that then instruct the survey. Do I contact their estate agent to find out suitable dates or just book one and say we've booked a survey for x date?

Many thanks

We have a buyer but haven't yet completed the chain. Keen for the buyer to book their survey, but not sure how it normally works?

Normally yes wait until the chain is complete before paying out for surveys etc but seems at the moment people are happy to do so before hand.

I would find out when surveyors are available as they might be busy, then yes go via agent to find when it would be best for everyone. My agents passed my number to the surveyors so could just contact me directly.

Yes need to find out what dates work for sellers.
I done my survey straight away tbh so it was done.

Once the chain is complete then instruct the surveyor. In my experience they will liase with the estate agents themselves to arrange a time with the seller.

Awesome thank you. Our vendor says they will break the chain if they can't find anywhere so that's good news and our buyers are first timers.

We booked ours straight away as it was already a 6 week waiting list so was worried it would hold everything up. Our sellers still haven’t found a house To buy 4 weeks later so starting to worry now.

We booked ours before the chain was complete as it was an old property with the potential for deal breaking issues. We did not want to sit waiting weeks for a chain to form, only to discover we did not want to buy the house after all.
