I know it's naff but I'm secretly excited about getting one. But there's too much choice and it's all a bit of a shot in the dark. Any experience or advice?

Do you mean style of sign or what it says? I would go for Isners or Myome

Davros · 06/06/2021 15:35

I mean style. Wood, slate, pottery etc. Are there craft makers or do I go to Amazon etc. Thanks

I've googled Isners and Myome but nothing's coming up

Do you have a modern house OP? This type of sign is popular around here with the new builds.

Thanks. I'll have a look at them

Thanks for that. Its an old house. Norfolk flint, about 150 years old. I'd like something "crafty" but not sure how to choose

Those K-smart ones are quite easy to fit , 2 screw design. Took me about 10mins to put up.

coogee · 06/06/2021 16:19

Whoosh!

Davros · 06/06/2021 16:59

I just decided to look at KSmart but got confused again! I'm paralysed with indecision (as usual!)

Have a look on Etsy

Beebumble2 · 06/06/2021 17:17

We have an older house with square slate plaque with the number and street. We’re in a haphazard village and diagonally opposite the same number, but different street. We think it looks smart

muckypaws · 06/06/2021 17:23

I've got my eyes on a rusty sign that someone on Etsy makes for my house. It's has the letters cut out of a sheet of metal.

Mosaic123 · 06/06/2021 18:19

How about having a mosaic one made by someone on Etsy?

GOODCAT · 06/06/2021 18:22

We got a slate one ordering from a stall at a local fair. Lots of choice of font and letter colouring.

Slimmingstar · 06/06/2021 18:25

Just make sure the number is on it, not some wanky made up name, that means it’s impossible to tell what actual number your house is.........

Dilbertian · 06/06/2021 18:30

I had a custom made one from Honister Slate. I have the lettering in gold, which looks lovely against the reddish house bricks.

HappyTimeTunnelDinosaur · 06/06/2021 18:31

@Slimmingstar We don't have a number so we had to just put the name!

We also went for a slate one, it goes well with our slate tiled roof and can also be seen clearly from the road. We used UK sign shop online and the service was great.

Davros · 06/06/2021 18:42

I'm tempted by rusty or mosaic. I'll have a good look. I'd be happy with slate or wood or ...

wonkylegs · 06/06/2021 18:42

Last house we had a engraved slate one bought when visiting the Lake District
This one we bought brushed stainless steel numbers which we fixed to a huge slice of tree with the bark on, which was cut from a tree we took down. It's the right balance of modern and rustic and sits on the gatepost at the end of our driveway.

Homestyle on Instagram
Made me a fab one instagram.com/homeestyleuk?utm_medium=copy_link

Also love the ones on instagram.com/lottielouisedesigns?utm_medium=copy_link

Davros · 06/06/2021 19:05

Even more fabulous ideas. I'd love a neon one but it's not a good idea. The church right next door might object

They take agggges to deliver though. When I finally got the notification my sign had been dispatched I'd actually forgotten I'd ordered one, even though I'd been initially excited like the OP.

Welsh slate with white numbers.
