Stainless steel counters

Does anyone have experience of stainless steel kitchen counters? I'm planning a 2x1m island but if I get the quartz that will be on the rest of the kitchen, it'll have to have a join which I don't like. I love the industrial look and think it could really lift what will otherwise be a perfectly nice but very normal kitchen. I'm happy for it to age over time with nicks and dents but I'm not sure if I'm being dazzled by the idea over practicality.

we have stainless steel units at work (tgi fridays) in the kitchen and very hard wearing easy to clean and still look good 8 years after we opened as a new restaurant, the secret with making stainless steel look good after cleaning is to go with the direction of the grain in it

I had Silestone island and stainless steel for the wall run with sink, which was molded in. No join. It does develop a patina of scratches but no dents or nicks. Very easy to keep clean and very practical. I wouldn't want it as my main worksurface though - too clinical.
