Full tile or half tile bathroom

Hi all, I'm about to get new en-suite and bathroom and I can't make my mind up whether to tile floor to ceiling or half tile half paint. Any advice? Thank you

We fully tiled all the bathrooms. It's far handier - paint is a pain and the steam does even the best paints no favours.

The other thing is, don't get shiny ones!

I've done half. Full tile makes it look a bit like a hospital. Paint won't last forever but repainting is cheaper and easier than re-tiling so not really an issue.

Half.

Full tiled bathrooms looks horrible imo.

Full. Half tile looks like your couldn’t afford to full tile 😝

Nah, depending on the space I think. Full tile in small rooms to keep it clean lines and unfussy.

Half tile in large bathrooms where you have more scope for styling it in a more interesting way.

I'm not keen on the full tile look - always looks a bit clinical and/or hotel room to me.

We went for half tile - just need to get around to painting it now.

The idea was we could ring the changes a bit with paint and accessories.

But I think whatever you do will probably date - so just go with what you like.

I'm thinking Matt marble tiles up to half and then F&B light blue for the paint. Can't add pics for inspo but I've also seen fully tiled marble inspo that looks chic. It seems very 50/50.

I prefer full tile if the tiles are something warm like stone, brick, cork or wood effect. It looks smarter and more “done”. But full tile with things like metro tiles make a bathroom look like the inside of the Rotherhithe Tunnel and anything white and glossy looks a bit clinical so if those are your taste then half tile probably better. I also tend to assume that people who’ve opted for half tile were cost cutting, which can be off putting for resale (what else have the cut costs on?)

Go with your gut you have to live with it.
I prefer half tile and haven't ever had an issue with peeling paint (good ventilation is key)
I have had lots of clients who love fully tiled
Both works and can look great.
