When does completion date get discussed

So I believe all enquiries are answered and everyone wants to get moving when do we start discussing completion date and who would start this conversation.

In my experience it was quite late, when we were within a day or two of exchanging contracts - before that, we were at the stage you're at for a few days (maybe a week?) - we thought everything was sorted but little issues kept cropping up, other buyers in the chain had extra queries etc. But it shouldn't be long now!

In terms of who should start it, we told our estate agent which day/s we wanted as soon as we knew, and she negotiated with the agents up and down the chain. We basically ended up reserving a removals company and demanding a particular day, as they were all so busy.

You just need to make sure you're in frequent contact with your estate agent and pushing things along, and you'll get there.

If you have an earliest or latest date you can mention your preferences to solicitors and EA early but they won’t be settled until exchange of contact. You could also say if there is a particular time you need between exchange and completion.

Its usually sorted quite close to exchange. We discussed ours this week ready for exchange tomorrow (which is unlikely to happen due to buyers solicitor)

As it's the satisfaction of the solicitors that all enquiries have been answered and all documentation is in order, it is they who say whether you are ready to exchange. They should communicate with the solicitors above and below who communicate with next in line and so on.
So if you are at that stage you should discuss dates with your solicitor.
