Do you have an outside door mat?

Trying to figure if you can buy one which isn't like a bloody sponge. The one we have outside at the moment looks smart, it's black but is literally just a water trap. DH is worried it will trap water around the bottom of the doorstep and cause rot. We have an inside one, do we need an outside one too?

We have a metal grid outside the rear doors and a Turtle mat just inside the rear porch.

I've had coir ones with the plastic/rubbery backing, and always end up propping them up against the wall after it's rained to "drain" them.

Yes a rubber grid one and a coir one on the inside.

I have a coir one outside in the storm porch (which is open). Works fine.

We have a rubber one, looks like a half circle wrought iron sort of design. Works so much better than our soggy old coir one
