It's a desk but I want to upcycle it into a dressing table. Got it off marketplace for £5. Ideas please!

Oooh, I love thinking about stuff like this! I think I'd just keep it simple and go down the pared-back Scandi route.

I'd mount a big circular mirror over it - something with a plain, narrow frame (probably a white frame to match the legs) and definitely nothing Roccoco or over-the-top.

I'd get a couple of wicker baskets to use for drawers and maybe spray the bottom or top halves of them in white, then keep the rest of the accessories simple and not over-clutter the top.

Maybe a succulent plant or two in black & white pots on little saucers, glass jars for storing cotton wool and other beauty bits and your 'best' bottles on display (my dressing table is a bit French boho, so I've got all my fanciest perfumes on display, but the cheap stuff stays hidden in a drawer, ha ha).

I'd use some sort of plywood box with a lift-up lid (for more storage) as a dressing table stool and get a nice cushion for the top of it. or, I'd get an old Ercol chair - maybe something a bit battered and distressed.

Let us know what you eventually do with it, though!

To make it stand out more from the floor I would paint it all one colour (a strong colour!) - have a look at Lick paints for inspiration. I would also change the legs.
