I'm buying a house with a massive integral garage. Converting it a lounge wold give us so much more downstairs space. Does this require planning permission? All I can find is that it doesn't "usually" require planning permission but does need building regs.
The property is the opposite side of the road to a conservation area but not in a conservation area. A house a few doors up appears as if it may have been converted as the brickwork appears newer.
It's not a deal breaker exactly as the house still ticks many boxes but I think this would make us more confident that we were doing the right thing.
