Moving to Carterton

Hi there,

We are about to move to Carterton (Oxfordshire) but I'm a bit concerned about being so close to the airbase. Could I ask about your experiences? The planes are not too loud/frequent? Our house would be right next to the Carterton Primary School.
Also, I'd be happy to hear your thoughts about the school itself.

thanks a lot

Yes the planes will be loud and frequent, it’s the largest RAF base. It’s okay if you work on the base, the town is the probably the cheapest place to buy in West Oxon however.

Depending on the different flight paths, villages like Black Bourton can be worse!

The planes aren't only loud when they fly. Friends used to live in one of the houses on the estate off Monahan Way, and you'd often hear planes sitting on the ground running their engines.

It didn't bother me, but then I was only visiting so I kind of enjoyed the novelty of it.They didn't seem to mind either. It wasn't too intrusive when you were indoors with windows closed, but it was very noticeable when you were outside.
