Would you buy a house without a bath?

We're looking at a property just now with the main bathroom only having a shower cubicle and no bath.

It's in a new build area, 3 beds, new schools being built so obviously has a family market in mind.

Whilst we're not needing a bath, we're concerned that not having one would affect its resell later down the line.

Would you buy a house with no bath?

Would you buy a house with no bath and no room to put one in?

Thanks mnetters!

No. I hate having work done on my house and people in so CBA'd with putting one in.

No

No I wouldn’t, I always have a bath and never use the shower. I only ever use a shower if we are away somewhere that doesn’t have a bath.

Even Dh who hasn’t had a bath for years has started using the bath again, as he’s realised he can chill out and relax!

Another thing one of my dcs hated the shower and refused point blank to get in until she hit teenage years. (Even now she prefers the bath over the shower) So if we didn’t have the bath would have had to wash her at the sink. I think a house marketed towards a family should have the option at least.

It'd be a bummer for sure, but if I loved the house otherwise it wouldn't be a deal breaker (as long there was scope to add one).

We have two baths and neither ever get used. Showers only in our house.
I do like a bath when I stay in a nice hotel though.

We saw a house that didn’t have a bath or space to put one in and it really put me off.

I'd be wary of this too and it's what stops me removing the bath from our bathroom! However, would there be space to put one in for if and when you came to re-sell, even if the shower then needs to go over the bath? Xx

I have a 4 year old and took the bath out last year when I redid the bathroom. She is fine in the big shower cubicle we have, she soon learned not to slip. I'd happily buy without a bath.

If I wanted a bath (I don’t) I would be happy if there was space to fit one in.

Adding a bath to a bathroom can be a cheap and simple job.

Your house is for you to live in. Why stare at an unused bath for 5 years?
