Do you have a Tom Howley style appliance cupboard with bi fold doors?

Anyone have experience of breakfast/appliance cupboards with bi fold doors like Tom Howley style kitchens?

Does it actually work with quooker, toaster, microwave inside? I know toaster has to be slid forward to use.

If you installed one do you regret the decision.

Does anywhere online only supply them as I know DIY kitchens dont.

Thanks.

Handmade kitchens of Christchurch do them

This instagramer has it, could be worth asking her?

I've spent ages on this - Masterclass do them. The bit no-one was able to reassure me on was what happens to the moisture? I wanted to put my bean to cup machine and bread maker inside, but they both make steam. Basically, even with venting, everything else in the cupboard gets exposed to the steam, so you can't really use it for perishables, only for crockery. Made it a non-starter for us.

Are you having 2 Quookers? We have a quooker flex at the kitchen sink and love it. I use it for drinks, but also for cooking (makes cooking veg etc much quicker) and blasting pots and pans in the sink so would not want it in a cupboard

I have a breakfast cupboard that houses toaster and microwave. I'm not sure you'd want a tap in there as I think the steam from a Quooker would warp the cupboards, though I do have a coffee maker in mine.
I just drew out my idea and the kitchen company made a wide cupboard that came down to the work surface and I had sockets put inside it. They couldn't figure out the doors that disappear in to the sides though so they are just standard.

I hadnt got an actual plan just seen pictures of these cupboards for tea/coffee making and microwave/toaster and thought it looked great but no experience of quookers but were shown on the photos hence my question if it all works in reality.

Badger - do masterclass do inframe?

Any other suppliers of bi fold doors on these cupboards other than hand made of Christchurch? Thanks

We used to have a rolltop one and it was fantastic for keeping everything hidden away.

minipie · 23/05/2021 19:02

I have this but with pivot and hide door rather than bifold.

I have toaster and microwave inside, these are fine. Absolutely would not want Quooker inside though - we have one as our main sink tap and it produces vast amounts of steam. All the food packets flour etc would be ruined.

Thank you. Who supplied these?

It was a bespoke kitchen but I believe the pivot and slide mechanism is this one www.hafele.co.uk/en/product/complete-set-for-pivot-sliding-cabinet-doors-hawa-concepta/00000134000044bb00030023/

Downsides: the mechanisms are very much not cheap and you do lose a bit of cabinet space as you need a pocket for the door to slide into.

minipie - thank you. Would the company be someone I could get to quote if they have already done similar?

@minipie do you have any photos? Sounds like the perfect set up.

Pics would be a bit outing but it’s similar to this:

depressedor I have PMd you

I believe Nigel Slater has one, so you're in good company!
I've seen photos if his online somewhere but can't seem to find them now.
It seems such a good idea and I'm seriously considering it for when we get our kitchen done. I'd aim to put the microwave, toaster, coffee grinder and my large Kenwood food processor in it, plus a mini chopper and stick blender if it all fits and has lots of sockets.
Won't need a kettle as I also want a Quooker at the sink.

Tartyflette · 24/05/2021 09:51

Found it.

Anyone else got a supplier they could recommend for this?

I have one of those cupboards with kettle, toaster and coffee. It’s a Second Nature kitchen, available from any Second Nature supplier. I wouldn’t put a Quooker inside though, it’ll splash and ruin the cupboard.

YellowFish12 · 27/05/2021 22:20

That looks great minipie 😀
