We've only just gone and exchanged!!!

It has been THE most stressful 6 weeks I've had. Threats of losing our house, top of chain going back on market, issues with planning permission on our side, multiple pleas to council...

Don't quite believe it but we have finally exchanged today!!!! Complete in 2 weeks!

What now?

Home insurance sorted
Removals booked (with packing service)
Broadband cancelled (need to get new one)
Council tax
Utilities
Redirect post
Book cattery

What else to think about??? My brain hurts!!!

You need to register with new GP, tell your bank, your car registration, any subscriptions.
The usual 'pack stuff for a couple days/nights' and put in your car. Don't forget chargers.
If you've managed to get to exchange in six weeks with all those hassles that's extremely good going!

I had to acquire boxes from local shops etc

The rest is very personal

I had a list of on the day tasks eg photographing meter readings
I had the phone and internet disconnected the day before
Informed council tax
Informed banks
Looking for new doc and dentist if applicable
TV licence if applicable

Packing should start with ornaments and things you rarely use

5 in the chain and top of chain was sure they'd get more money if they went back to market so very helpfully kept threatening to do so every so often(!)

Don't forget to keep the kettle, coffee, tea, sugar, milk and biscuits to hand - definitely puts you in the movers' good books plus you're going to want some yourselves!

Pack a bag of clothes for the first night and day for everyone (including special teddies/blankies) and fresh bedding for all the beds you're going to use the first night.

Order in a pizza/ Chinese, relax and enjoy your lovely new house!
