What’s Rushmere St Andrew like? Contemplating a move. Like Woodbridge but think the commute too faffy as have to change at Ipswich. A house has come on in Rushmere St Andrew but I hear bad stuff about Ipswich. Any thoughts? Commute would be better.

Rushmere is pretty nice - not too far from town centre, but more pleasant I think compared to parts of central Ipswich. V convenient for the hopsital too! Plenty of green spaces (Rushmere Heath) and schools are good as far as I know.

Rushmere is fine, although not many facilities (shops etc). Where will you be commuting to work, and by what means of transport?

Rushmere village is lovely but like a pp said, a drive to shops etc. There is an area near the hospital called Rushmere st Andrew that is also nice, east side of Ipswich, good schools and there are local shops. Ipswich gets called "bad" but I've lived around here for over 10 years and I think it has a lot going for it!

Ok great. We’d need access to the station to get into London a couple of times a week. Also possibly Ipswich School.

If you want access to the station and Ipswich School you could look at the area off Henley Road, much closer to both! The high school catchment is not as good but if you're looking private that might not matter. Good luck :)

Rushmere is ok but becoming a non desirable part of ipswich

Oh really? Oh no.

Rushmere is perfectly fine. Not sure what the previous poster is talking about...

If you want the station and Ipswich School I would look at Henley Road, Valley Road, Warrington road areas of town

Also, what is your budget regarding house? There are nice properties around Christchurch Park (fairly close to Ipswich School) but they are pricey.

So it was a move for this house. We’d have to get to the station 1-2 week.

That is a lovely house! And the countryside around there is lovely too, lots of nice walks. You actually do have shops (like a coop) not too far away and the station wouldn't be more than 20 min drive i think.
Ipswich School would take about 10 min.
