So stressed

House chain has broken three times already, we’ve been on the market since September, mortgage offer expires in a fortnight. So close to exchange yet solicitors dragging their feet about one tiny issue. Emails going back and forth, no one making final decision. Rest of the chain are ready to exchange. I feel like I may actually lose my mind.

Fingers crossed it all goes smoothly, keep on at the solicitors. Can your estate agent help with pushing things a long?

Estate agent is doing a good job - he’s pulling strings everywhere to try and get stuff sorted. Apparently the big boss solicitor is looking at our file today so hopefully it will get pushed through. I’m just at breaking point - work is mental at the moment (teacher with loads of stuff going on) and I’m just feeling completely overwhelmed.

Solicitors work for their clients.

Is the outstanding issue to do with you, or in another part of the chain? If you, are you prepared to concede a cost / risk? Ask your solicitor and EA if there is another way of approaching it.

The EA for my sale was really helpful in suggesting a solution to a potential issue in my purchase.

Fingers crossed for you, anyway.

The issues that were causing hold up seem to have been resolved. But then so much more stress was added yesterday at 4.45pm when the conveyancer emailed saying ‘oh yes, next problem, your mortgage expires in 10 working days and we have to give the help to buy redemption people 10 working days notice’ and then didn’t reply to emails or answer their phone.
