DH answered the door to a salesman recently and ended up getting an appointment to discuss getting the roof coated in something or other to protect it. So this bloke showed up and gave us a quote, cheaper than getting entire roof replaced etc and adds extra x years to the life of the roof. I just bought the house at the end of last year and didn't imagine forking out for major-ish expenses for a while yet. It's great inside, nothing needs done and I thought I'd have some breathing space after the selling/buying expenses.
The adjoining neighbours have had theirs done already and it looks good but I don't have 2k lying around! DH would pay half but even so. The guy just showed up again and asked what we thought of the neighbours work and was the quote ok? At the time the guy had said we'd not have to decide quickly because the quote would be valid for a year. I'm WFH, told them to call my husband to discuss it.
Just feeling a bit put on the spot. Also we'd likely have to get it done in the same bright colour as the neighbours or it would look silly. Hate being disturbed and hassled. I've told DH not to answer the door to salesmen in future.
