3rd floor one bed flat - where would you put the lounge East or West facing?

Renovating a flat so can either have the lounge to the East or West - both have one large sash window. East is to the front of the property and West is at the back so quieter - but the road is not busy and it’s 3rd floor.

I prefer morning sun for being productive and evening no sun for relaxing or watching TV so east facing. Presumably the other room would be a bedroom, which would be better without morning sun!

Is the reception room to be sitting room only, or will it have the kitchen in also?

I would rather west facing as I spend (or used to) more time at home in the evenings than in the mornings when it was get up and go to work.

I like to wake up to the warmth of the east sun and have lovely west sun in the long evenings in the living room

@Gorgeouslilgirl and @YellowFish12 - also good points - will have to think that through -will be up and out at work on weekdays and socialising / sports in the evenings - so maybe it’s the weekends that are important to consider.

Yes - the kitchen would also be part of the living room. Likely to be hosting in evenings.

Bedroom east / living room west.
You'll have the sun in your bedroom in the morning and it will stay cool in the summer.
You'll have a lovely afternoon light in the living room when you're in it.
Don't worry about the bedroom facing the road, you're on the third floor and worst case scenario, you can get better windows. But you won't be able to change the sun direction.

Bed east, livingroom west for sure. You will
Enjoy long afternoons and evenings of sun, not just a few quick hours in the morning.

Defo living room west if it’s got the kitchen. You’ll be in there cooking, entertaining, generally hanging out in lovely sunshine
