The front of our house is north facing and quite dark. We are about to embark on a whole house renovation and are pondering whether to put a letterbox roof window into the single storey sloped roof over the front door - this would shoot a good deal of light back into the front of the house and the hallway. But I’ve never seen a roof window in this position on the front of a house, which I’m guessing means it’s not allowed? We will be applying for planning permission so I will definitely ask an architect about this when we get to that stage.
