Why is it so hard to get a house!

First time poster but just felt like I wanted to see if anyone else felt the same!
We have been trying to put my boyfriends house on the market for the past week but the estate agents keep messing us around. We've now signed for another one.

My issue is, every time I ring for a house viewing it's either gone or they're only accepting viewings from people who've sold. I've rang for 20 houses now and got viewings for 3. It feels like we'll never get a house at this rate. Will it slow down? Can you actually run out of houses? I've never bought before so starting to panic although he's just pleased he'll be making a big profit on current house!

Have a look at the other threads on the property forum here, and over at other big online forums.

Your situation is very, very much not unique at the moment... things are still very cray cray out there.

Once you are under offer you should find it easier. Most estate agents ime aren't accepting viewings unless you are under offer at the moment.

We didn't bother trying to set up viewings until we were under offer

Maybe its me being a bit keen before he's sold. We aren't expecting it to be too hard to sell, the estate agent sold one a few houses away and it had 63 viewings over the weekend. Hopefully we will find it a bit easier once we are under off. Just so difficult when you see these gorgeous houses!

Yeah it is hard to watch lovely houses go while you wait but it is just something you have to suck up. Other lovely houses will come on.

We had the same problem, saw loads we really liked but couldn't get a viewing before being under offer, they all sold really fast too. I was starting to worry but ours sold within 6 days, 5 days after that we got an offer accepted. Try and stay positive!
