Thinking of this for kitchen cupboards, but how dark is it? I want a deep colour but the F&B website says it can look almost black unless in really strong light.
Also interested in any suggestions of other shades which might be what I’m looking for. I want green (rather than blue) tones, nothing really bright, just a nice classy rich colour. Not sage; definitely after something darker.

It doesn’t look black but just very dark. It’s a beautiful rich, subtle colour. I have a hallway painted in it and also have a few bits of furniture that I painted too. It looks good against other colours ( pinks in my house).

Also, my hallway is dark and it doesn’t read as black. It is definitely green.

You really have to test it where you’re going to put it. F&B look completely different depending on direction of room and time of day. We have Studio Green in south facing sunny kitchen - looks green. But I agonised for ages looking online, but had to test.

I would test studio green and also green smoke (also F&B). Green smoke is definitely not a sage. Still rich but slightly lighter. I’m having the same debate at the moment for my kitchen units! I also think it depends if you will go for a Matt or slightly sheen finish - the Matt green smoke is darker than the satinwood finish (I think as it reflects the light more).

There's also Duck green from Farrow and Ball, looks a bit lighter. I like the dark green, but not sure if it would go with black worktops though.

Have a look at Hunter Dunn by Paint & Paper Library...... It might be what you’re after.

Thanks for the tips. So tricky finding the right colour.

I have Studio Greenon the kitchen cabinets. All of us love it. It changes colour all day! At the darkest point it is a deep, warm, very dark colour but not black. It is really beautiful.
We contrasted with a warm white on the ceiling and floor is wood.

I have a Studio Green kitchen and still love it three years on. Will try to find a pic. Have white marbled quartz worktops and wood effect porcelain floor tiles. Looks very classy (imho)!Smile

I've not seen it in person, but on Instagram Sap Green (F&B) looks absolutely stunning.

BakeOffRewatch · 10/05/2021 19:02

Ooh yes would love a photo @DanielleandBobby, that sounds beautiful

Little Green Pompeiian Ash is also very beautiful

I have studio green in my house, at times it looks a dark charcoal but not black. We actually have a paint mixed version, it changes colour depending on the light.

Bancha · 16/05/2021 06:37

I have a black (off black) kitchen and steel beam painted in studio green and you can definitely see the contrast between the two. Studio green is beautiful. It’s subtle and classy.

We had studio green in our boot room at our last house. It never looked black IMO; just a lovely rich green. Loved it!

Love your kitchen @DanielleandBobby! Trendy and still very homely.

Such a good choice for what could have been a boring room @Daisydoesnt.

I’ve just painted my kitchen cupboards in Cooking Apple Green, 3 coats . However my kitchen is a dark room and needed a lighter tone. I’m really pleased with it . Have dark grey granite worktops

@BakeOffRewatch Thank you! (@DanielleandBobby here). I have been very happy with the colour and hope to use it in our next house too (we're selling up here soon). I will miss our kitchen :(
