We had Hive fitted a short while ago and with hindsight, we used the wrong people.

I got three quotes and went with the guys that we know best and have used for all sorts of work over the last 5/6 years. I think now that, much as they tell me otherwise, that they've never fitted Hive before.

We only have individual Hive valves on the upstairs rads and are controlling the downstairs ones as a group.
When they fitted it initially, the old thermostat was left on the wall in the hallway with the new Hive thermostat on the shelf in the hallway.
Things seemed to be working fine.

We then realised we shouldn't be using the old thermostat so got them But then the new one didn't control the downstairs rads so the electrician came back and did something, apologised and said it was his fault and that it would be fine now.

Except it's not!
This morning at 7am the downstairs rads are very hot, Hive is showing the temperature downstairs is 21 odd degrees but the Hive schedule shows the heating should be off.

Can I fix this myself?

Or would I be within my rights to tell the guys that I'm getting a Hive specialist in to sort it out and will be looking to them to recoup the cost?

It's not life threatening obviously but I'm pissed off that I've got rads burning heat and I've had to open all the windows to compensate.

And thinking about it, even with our old heating timer schedule, the heating would NOT be on at 7am on a Sunday so something is really screwed up.

TIA

Hive should completely replace the old boiler controller, old one should be redundant.

boiler can be turned on by either the Hive thermostats or individual radiator TRVs (assuming they are “smart”) if temp drops below that set.

Check how the TRVs are setup in the app (do they have their own schedule?).

If I’m doubt, get the installer back. Really is a simple job.

thanks GG.

The app on my phone shows that the heating downstairs should not be on. It shouldn't come on until 8am.

Yet the rads downstairs are hot.

Upstairs the rads are off and that's correct as the schedule is for them to be off.
