Can't bear house sharing any more at 50. I'm going home.

2015, I remember passively reading about the increasingly worse housing crisis taking place in Ireland and feeling quite unaffected by it. (I am English) living in Ireland for the past 23 years. I read this particular report, sat on my own couch in m own small but comfortable rented studio in Dublin. Little did I know, that my landlady would evict me stating the 'total electrical rewiring' excuse and that I would be aged 50, tearful and despondent after a 4-year attempt of finding anywhere to live alone (I come with a pet cat). I am terrified, but I have decided...enough is enough... I'm going home...back to North England... whilst I can still afford to rent a one-bedroom flat there. I waited 'too long' to meet the right man for starting a family with and got left behind I guess, now I just pray for one thing... not to have to live in a houseshare anymore at 50. Housing crisis...how many lives have you crushed?

Oh huge sympathy.
I am 53 and I would hate to flat share. Studio flat with my own front door over any type of share.

I am so sad for you that you have to leave behind the life you have built though in order to achieve this.

Hi Steppemum, no sympathy required ... but thank you anyway love ;-) I think sometimes if you ignore a calling (perhaps in my fate...a return to the UK) and you ignore it, then fate has a great habit of giving you a little 'push', ignore that push and fate will keep pushing. I am busy organising pet passports (takes 6 weeks), furniture removals (priced so far at 950 euros) and of course, I want to have a job arranged before travelling ...I do recruitment and collections. Hope you are happy in your live, Steppemum, wherever you are ;-)
